What Montague homeowners say

★★★★★
“Our second installation of this product. Excellent product.”
Danny and Rhondalynn C. · Montague, PEI · 2023
★★★★★
“I would recommend the product but I would tell them to be very careful about the communication. They need to improve their communication. Bob told me that I would receive a check if I recommend people who buy from them. My friend Jim Brennan from Kappoch Cove is the one who referred me and he still has not gotten a check. It makes me think that you will not come through for me if I recommend people.”

Roofing in Montague: what to plan for

Salt air: aluminum cannot rust

On an island, salt air is not only a shoreline concern: wind carries salt spray and fog well inland. Salt is what wears out steel roofing once its coating is breached. Aluminum forms a thin, tough oxide layer that seals the metal against further corrosion and re-forms if scratched, so an Interlock® roof has no steel core to rust, in Charlottetown or on the north shore.

Wind off the Gulf and the Strait

PEI is open to the wind from every side, and storms like Fiona in 2022 show what that means for a roof. Interlock panels lock to each other on all four sides with the fasteners concealed, and wind resistance is warranted to 193 km/h (120 mph) installed to manufacturer specification. No roof is storm-proof: hurricane-force wind damage is a matter for your home insurance, and it is excluded from our labour warranty.

Farmhouses, barns and outbuildings

On a PEI farm the house, the barn and the shop can share one profile and colour. Interlock's Slate, Cedar Shingle and Shake profiles keep the look of an old Island farmhouse at roughly 2 to 3.5 kg per square metre, a fraction of concrete tile or natural slate, and every profile needs a minimum 3/12 roof slope. We confirm yours at the consultation.

Older homes in Charlottetown and the towns

Older homes in Charlottetown, Summerside and the smaller towns can have steep pitches, dormers or more than one layer of old roofing. Cedar shingles and shakes always come off; a single layer of asphalt may be roofed over only if an inspection finds it suitable. Ice dams start with heat escaping into the attic, so we look at insulation and ventilation with you as well.

Condominium complexes

Under PEI's Condominium Act the board of directors of the condominium corporation usually decides on the roof, often with a reserve fund study in hand. We give boards one profile and colour across every building, the product documents they ask for, and both warranties in writing.

One installer for the Island, one set of warranties

We install every roof ourselves. Our office is in Dartmouth, NS, and it serves Prince Edward Island along with Nova Scotia and New Brunswick; there is no PEI office, so consultations are at your home or on Zoom. The manufacturer's Guardian Lifetime Limited Material Warranty and our 10 Year Limited Labour Warranty come with the roof, and after the install, service comes from the same company.
